Staff Pharmacist - Full Time

Shift: Variable 10 hour shifts

*Position May Qualify for Employee Referral Bonus. $10,000 sign on bonus over 2 years. 

Job Description:

PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served is all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Manager of Pharmacy, the Staff Pharmacist ensures safe and timely preparation and delivery of pharmaceuticals to patients and employees of the Hospital.

Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

To perform this job successfully, a current California Pharmacist license is required. Graduation from an ASHP accredited residency and Board Certification or five years of recent hospital inpatient experience is preferred.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer skills."

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a current California Pharmacist license. Must have and maintain current American Heart Association BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to assignment. Must have and maintain American Heart Association ACLS and PALS certification or obtain within six (6) months of assignment to department.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

1 * Maintains security of pharmacy, narcotic vault, and prescription medications within the pharmacy.
2 * Demonstrates responsibility for the assessment, treatment or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
3 Consistently documents patient safety concerns in the SVMC hospital intranet event reporting system.
4 Demonstrates an ongoing commitment to personal development in ways that benefit the department and Sierra View Medical Center.
5 * Demonstrates an ongoing commitment to professional development in ways that benefit the department and Sierra View Medical Center.
6 * Demonstrates ability to foster good relations with Physician staff while still performing necessary duties as a Registered Pharmacist.
7 * Demonstrates ability to foster good relations with Nursing, Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacist staff.
8 * Demonstrates effective leadership of pharmacy operations as a Registered Pharmacist responsible for medication safety and assists in supervising Pharmacy Technicians.
9 Demonstrates accountability as an on-call Pharmacist.
10 * Be in attendance on site and arrive to work on time.
